We collect nothing. Vision ProTein does not collect, record, or store any information about you, your device, or how you use the app. There are no analytics, no crash reporters, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party tracking of any kind embedded in the app.

Vision ProTein makes outbound network requests in two situations only:
.pdb or
.cif file directly from
rcsb.org
or the URL you supply. No identifying information about you accompanies
this request beyond what any standard HTTPS connection includes
(i.e., your IP address as seen by the remote server). The app itself
does not log or retain this information.
No other network connections are made. The app does not phone home, check for updates, or communicate with any server operated by the developer.
Vision ProTein uses ARKit hand tracking on Apple Vision Pro to let you interact with protein models using natural gestures — pinching, scaling, and rotating. This processing happens entirely on-device using Apple's framework. The app never reads, stores, or transmits raw hand-tracking data. The only output used is the computed fingertip positions needed to drive the gesture controls.
No spatial mapping, room scanning, or environment data is collected or retained.
In-app purchases and subscription management are handled by Apple's StoreKit framework and RevenueCat. When you purchase a subscription, Apple processes your payment — the developer never sees your payment details.
RevenueCat receives an anonymized receipt token from Apple to verify your entitlements. RevenueCat may associate this token with a random anonymous identifier on their servers. No name, email address, or other personal data is shared with RevenueCat. For more information, see the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
All in-app purchases can be managed or cancelled at any time through your Apple ID account settings.
The Colab subscription tier enables a SharePlay feature that lets you view proteins simultaneously with other participants over a FaceTime call. Synchronization messages — which contain protein visualization state such as which structure is loaded, display toggles, and transforms — are transmitted through Apple's GroupActivities / SharePlay infrastructure.
These messages do not contain personal data. They are encrypted by Apple's FaceTime infrastructure and are subject to Apple's privacy policy. The developer does not operate any server that relays or stores SharePlay session data.
Vision ProTein stores the following data locally on your device:
UserDefaults on
your device.
All locally stored data can be removed by deleting the app from your device.
Vision ProTein does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). Because the app collects no data at all, there is no additional risk to younger users.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Because we collect no personal data, any future changes are unlikely to affect your privacy in a meaningful way. We will never introduce data collection practices without clearly disclosing them here first.
